What to expect?
Lots of fun and belly laughs. So many hugs, kisses, and snuggles. Whether booking a mini session or a full lifestyle session, I am ecstatic you are choosing me to document such a special time in your life!. I can assure you having your family photographed in an authentic, lifestyle-like manner will help you hold on to these moments - your pregnancy, the baby era, the crazy toddler years, or whatever time in your life you want me to document and freeze time for! I know having your family photographed can be stressful and my goal is to help you have fun while also capturing your family story in an honest, beautiful way.
How do I book a session?
Have questions? Ready to book your session? Either way, let's chat! Head on over to the contact tab and send me a message so we can get started.
Once we have selected a date, you will be sent a contract which will need to be signed in order to hold your reservation. In addition, you will need to pay the non-refundable retainer fee (50%) at that time.
I'll send you a questionnaire to get to know you, your family and your expectations and wants for your session. Once it is filled out, you will hear from me 7-10 days before your session to finalize details! (location and time)
FAQ
What time of the day will my session take place at?
I am a light photographer. This means I love to shoot when the sun is working for me, not the other way around! In summer, it often means late afternoon/evenings are ideal, and in spring/fall/winter, mornings and evenings are both possible.
What happens if it rains?
If the weather isn't cooperating, it is best to reschedule and I will reach out to find another date and time that works. We usually wait until the day of to make the decision.
Where is my session happening?
Most sessions with take place within the Rockford area unless we have discussed otherwise (Loves Park, Machesney Park, Roscoe, Rockton, Belvidere, P Grove, etc) I have a few favorite spots but I am also always finding new spots. If you have a preference, I will try to accommodate that.
Can I bring props?
I like to keep props to a minimum unless is a cake smash or themed session. I will always have a blanket and a crate for us to use.
If you are wanting to bring a prop or special item to your session, just let me know!
But...what do I wear?
There are three magic ingredients to create the perfect photos: Light (location) + editing + outfits! I will take care of the first two, but I will need your help with the third one!
We want the focus of the photos to be on you, your family, your connection , your story. Choosing lighter, neutral and timeless clothes will complement your family and not compete against it
What do I mean?
For patterns, look for light and delicate patterns, versus bold and patterns with too much contrast- light florals, eyelet patterns and light stripes will photograph nicely. Look for creams, tans, whites and light grays - add a little color with muted pinks, blues, and greens. I strongly suggest finding the ladies outfits first. Dresses really help to capture that timeless look!
For the guys, I recommend simple shirts, button up shirts or sweaters. For pants - khakis, tans or light colored jeans.
Next, layer, layers, layers!!! and add accessories with a hat, jacket or vest for the boys, or a headbands and necklace for the girls.
Shoes: Please stay away from character themed shoes, athletic shoes, and bulky soles. Flip flops do not photograph well, and a heel always elongates the leg :) If you are looking to purchase new clothes, my favorites are Old Navy, Zara, Gap and Target, JCrew, Banana Republic, Bjones if you are local to the area!)
What happens after my session?
Once your session is over you will receive your proofs gallery within 24-48 hours. You will choose your favorite images to be edited (number of photos will depend on if you had a mini session or a full lifestyle family session). Once you have made your selection, you will receive your digital gallery within 5-7 business days. Full sessions receive digital images in color and black and white. You will be able to download all your edited images, along with with your printing rights contract release. You are also able to share this gallery with friends and family. You can order prints (and other products) through your online gallery (this is the only way in which I can guarantee quality on your prints). If you are NOT comfortable with your images posted in social media, please let me know, I always love to post a sneak or two on either Instagram or Facebook.
